The meaning of the shield:
The deerskin cover of the shield is embellished with a striking representation of a buffalo bull, the owner’s guardian spirit, which was revealed to him in a vision during a period of fasting and prayer.
This has been translated into an image that is at once both powerful and emotionally, immediately realized through the animal itself, upswept horns, hoof and, unwavering gaze.
